Family and friends mourn death of Jovit Baldivino

Former Pilipinas Got Talent grand winner Jovit Baldivino has passed away. He was 29.

Jovit’s fiancé Camille Ann Miguel took to Facebook on Friday to mourn the death of the singer by sharing a photo of them simply captioned “Asawa ko,”, alongside crying emojis.

In a separate post, Camille wrote: “Anong sama ng papasko mo samen.”

In a statement sent to ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Camille and Jovit’s parents related that Jovit was invited by a family friend while he was recuperating for a week with hypertension maintenance medicines.

Despite the doctor’s advice not to sing while on recovery, the singer gave in to the crowd’s request and sang three signature songs, including Journey’s “Faithfully”.

The report added that Jovit was gasping for breath on his last song. An hour later, “his face was deformed with flowing salivas,” the statement said.

Jovit was rushed to the nearest hospital at around 10 p.m. on December 3. His CT scan showed a blood clot in the brain, said to be a sign of aneurysm.

The singer reportedly went into a coma for five days before he died on Friday morning.

Jovit rose to popularity after emerging as the grand champion in the first season of reality talent show Pilipinas Got Talent in 2010.

Messages of condolences then poured on social media as celebrities, colleagues and fans paid tribute to the late singer.

“Sobrang sakit mawalan ng kaibigan. Ikaw yung unang sumuporta sa laban ko sa PGT,” said PGT Season 2 winner Marcelito Pomoy in an Instagram post.

Kiray Celis, meanwhile shared a throwback video of them doing the “Bad Romance” challenge with a group of friends, expressing disbelief over Jovit’s passing.

“Jovit…. totoo ba to? Ang saya saya pa natin dito.. hindi ka lang naging mabuting kaibigan samin. Para ka na naming kapatid eh ? mamimiss ka namin. At mahal na mahal ka namin! ?❤️.”

Richard Poon also expressed shock over the death of Jovit on Facebook.

Singer Rhap Salazar, meanwhile, reshared an old photo of them together, writing in a Facebook post,”Isang kapatid sa pag-awit. Rest in Peace, Jovit Baldivino“.
