Salvador Panelo will be releasing a music video for his cover version of Sharon Cuneta’s hit song Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, dedicating it to parents and families of children with special needs or disabilities.
The former chief presidential legal counsel and senatorial bet shared in a Facebook post on Monday that he has recorded the popular ’80s track with copyright owner Viva Records.
“The recording will be out soon. As many have now realized, the song perfectly captures the unconditional love of parents for their children, especially those with special needs/disabilities (CWDs),” shared Panelo.
Panelo also asked for contributed photos of CWDs with their parents as these will be featured in the video “to help raise awareness of the plight of CWDs in the country.”
The move came days after Sharon issued an apology for her negative reaction to Panelo singing her song at a campaign sortie of vice presidential bet Sara Duterte.
Sharon, in a statement, admitted that she felt “slighted” when her song was sung at the campaign event of the rival political party of her husband, vice presidential aspirant Kiko Pangilinan.
The Megastar had previously lambasted Panelo for using her song and had forbidden the latter from singing it at campaign events other than those of her husband’s political party.
Panelo, meanwhile, explained that he sang the song in honor of his late son who had down syndrome.
Without mentioning Panelo, Sharon later said sorry for the words she used in her now-deleted rants and to those who were hurt by them.
“Hindi ko rin naman alam noon na meron pala siyang special child at siya ang naaalala niya sa awit ko. At balita ko, gagamitin na daw niya ito ‘to raise awareness on the needs of special children,’” said Sharon.
“Natutuwa ako na kanta ko pa pala ang magiging paraan para maisip niyang gawin yon,” she added.
