Kit Thompson has been released on bail after being arrested for allegedly hurting girlfriend Ana Jalandoni.
According to a GMA News report, Tagaytay police released the 25-year-old actor at around 5p.m. on Monday, March 21, after posting P72,000 bail.
“He was released in good and physical condition,” Tagaytay chief of police Police Lt. Col. Rolando Baula was quoted as saying.
Kit’s arrest last March 18 came after authorities received a call about a commotion at a hotel room the couple was staying in.
Police rescued Ana who claimed that Kit got physical after they had a heated argument caused by jealousy. She was brought to the hospital for medical treatment while Kit underwent inquest proceedings.
Philippine National Police then filed a complaint against Kit for violation of Section 5 (a) of the Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and Children Act.
Ana’s camp, meanwhile, said in a statement to ABS-CBN News that they are “determined to pursue the case” against Kit and “press charges to the fullest extent of the law.”
Atty. Faye Singson, Ana’s legal counsel, added that the actress’ eyesight is “severely affected” following the incident and that she will continue treatment in the hospital until recovery.
“The savage and barbaric acts of the Respondent should not be condoned. How ironic that as we celebrate Women’s Month, such abuses being committed against women still exist. But know that for Ana to come out and speak up is a bold step to vindicating her dignity,” said Singson.
Cornerstone Management, the talent management agency that manages the career of Kit Thompson, previously released a statement that it “does not condone any act of violence and profoundly value the dignity of women.”
“In this delicate situation, we subscribe to the sound discretion of law enforcement and allow the wheels of justice to take its course,” it also added.
