All thanks to TV5’s family saga Paano Ang Pangako, Maricel Laxa is now open to taking on more onscreen projects.
The veteran actress made her sentiments known during Paano Ang Pangako’s season finale press conference on Tuesday. In the show, she plays the matriarch Faith Aguinaldo.
When asked if The IdeaFirst Company and Cignal Entertainment’s serye was the start of her being visible again in showbiz, Maricel admitted that she’s uncertain of what’s to come after the show.
It’s been a minute since she last worked on a project like Paano Ang Pangako. She even recalled the time when she told one of the directors, Eric Quizon, that it has already been at least 20 years since she acted in a regular teleserye and it’s incredible they made it this far.
“Sa totoo lang, hindi ko alam kung ano yung next. I’m just open, just as nung dumating itong opportunity na ‘to na tinawagan ako for this role. Parang everything was just in the right place at the right time,” she said.
Maricel added that in this time of pandemic, she’s just like everyone else — waiting for what’s to come.
This time around though, the award-winning actress happily shared that she’s more ready now than before to return to the spotlight.
“I think I’m more ready now than before and nakita ko rin (na) my family is able to just look after each other more than before. So, parang mas mayroon akong confidence to work in showbiz more,” she explained.
Maricel is not just a successful actress, she’s also a proud mom to her and Anthony Pangilinan’s five kids — Ella, Donny, Hannah, Benjamin and Solana.
Among her children, it’s Donny who is actively pursuing showbiz.
