‘Second life ko na to’: Allan K emotionally opens up on COVID-19 battle

-

“Ito ang pangalawa kong buhay.”

Veteran comedian Allan K revealed for the first time that he suffered and survived a severe case of COVID-19.

The Eat Bulaga co-host made the emotional revelation during the Saturday episode of the noontime show’s Bawal Judgmental segment which featured “Dabarkads” who tested positive for COVID-19.

Allan K said that he never expected that he would contact the virus, sharing that he first thought of his high fever, loss of taste and smell as symptoms of a simple case of flu.

“Nag-eenjoy nga ako mag-face mask kasi parang maganda,” he joked.

But Allan K broke down in tears talking about how he was “in denial” of having the virus in the midst of an already tough time.

He recalled losing both his youngest sibling and his sister who lived with him for 17 years before returning to their hometown Bacolod. He also had to shut down his comedy bars Klownz and Zirkoh during this pandemic.

Dalawang magkasunod, two months lang pagitan.

The comedian went on to share that he got admitted to a hospital in Pasig City where he stayed for two days at the emergency room, and another three days and three nights at the Intensive Care Unit.

“Parang binagsakan ako ng mundo. Parang, ano ba? Ano ba ‘to? Hindi pa tapos ‘yung taon,” Allan K recalled his reaction upon learning that he tested positive for the coronavirus.

He shared that holding on to his faith helped him get through his battle with COVID-19.

“Nung nanumbalik yung wisyo ko, lumabas yung pagka-Kristiyano ko. Ang sabi nun, ‘I am the God that healeth thee.’ Alam niyo, maya’t maya ko yan sinasabi, ‘Lord you are the God that heals me, you just say the word and you will heal my disease.’

“True enough, alam niyo never ako na intubate.

I am the God that healeth thee.'”

He continued, “Thank you Lord!

Sabi niya, ‘Kaya mo ‘yan. Virus lang ‘yan, ‘no?’

“Nag-joke din ako. Sabi ko, ‘Oo Bossing, virus lang siya, bakla ako!” he said.

Allan K said that all that happened to him this year taught him a lesson in faith.

“Manalig lang talaga, have faith. Lahat ng pagsubok madadaanan nating lahat. Wag niyong kalilimutan na nandiyan siya,” he said.
