Lyca Gairanod looked back on her performance at a political campaign rally in 2022, which had resurfaced online and drew criticism from netizens.
The “The Voice Kids Philippines” Season 1 winner discussed the backlash she faced over her supposed association with a certain political party during an exclusive interview with Boy Abunda on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
“Ako po, when it comes to social media, kahit naman po sino, puwede kong i-follow. So wala naman po sa ‘kin. Hindi siya personal. Wala naman pong kahit ano. So nu’ng sinabi ko po na — wala naman po akong ano sa politics,” Lyca told the host.
Gairanod recalled that she accepted various work opportunities at the time, including the campaign rally performance, as she searched for ways to help her father, who had suffered a stroke.
“’Yung father ko po na-stroke. So lahat po ng work is tinanggap ko kahit ano pa ‘yan.
She explained that her decision was driven by her desire to help her father recover from his ailment.
Lyca previously clarified that she does not consider herself aligned with any political group and that she does not trust politics at all.
Wala akong pinaniniwalaan in politics. That’s it. Wala akong tiwala sa politics,” she said.
