P-pop powerhouses BINI and SB19 emerged among the biggest winners at the second edition of the Filipino Music Awards (FMA), which celebrated the best of OPM across generations
The awards ceremony was held at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday night, Oct. 6, with Billy Crawford, KC Montero, and Joey Mead King serving as hosts.
A follow-up to the inaugural FMA in 2025, this year’s ceremony brought together established OPM acts, rising artists, and some of the biggest names in the local music industry for a night celebrating OPM across generations.
The star-studded event featured performances from rock veterans and contemporary hitmakers, with Maki and Kamikazee as the opening act alongside Janine Berdin for “Huling Sayaw”.
Parokya ni Edgar closed the performance, bringing out Jay Contreras for “Halaga” and Elmo Magalona and Flow G for “Bagsakan”.
The 19 awards were divided into four major categories: Grand Awards, Genre Awards, Legacy Awards, and People’s Choice Awards, with the latter presented by Billboard Philippines.
Leading the Grand Awards is BINI, which took home the Artist of the Year award, while their Signals World Tour 2026 was named Tour of the Year. The girl group, who have been dubbed the Nation’s Girl Group, were also among the acts with the most nominations this year.
SB19, meanwhile, won Concert of the Year for their “Wakas At Simula: The Trilogy Concert Finale.” The group also took home both People’s Choice awards for Artist and Song, with their track “VISA” winning the latter.
The Song of the Year award went to Skusta Clee and Flow G for their collaboration “Since Day One,” which also won Hip-Hop Song of the Year.
Maki also had a strong showing, with his album KOLORCOASTER earning the Album of the Year award.
For the Genre Awards, VVINK, DJ Love, and Pio Balbuena won Pop Song of the Year for “Baduy,” while IV OF SPADES took home Alternative Song of the Year for “Kabisado.”
As a playful twist, the four-piece band, composed of composed of Zild Benitez, Blaster Silonga, Badjao de Castro, and Unique Salonga, the group brought “lolo” versions of its members to receive the award while they are currently on tour in the US and Canada.
Typecast won Rock Song of the Year for “What Would It Take (For You To Realize The True Evil In This World?),” while Ben&Ben received the Folk Song of the Year award for “Lifetime (Reimagined).”
The R&B Song of the Year category resulted in the awarding ceremony’s first tie between Denise Julia’s “LOVE AGAIN” and Alamat’s “Sinigang.”
Meanwhile, fitterkarma was recognized as Breakthrough Artist of the Year, adding a win in the Grand Awards category.
The People’s Choice Awards, presented by Billboard Philippines, also recognized international pop powerhouse BTS as People’s Choice (International Artist), while P-pop girl group KAIA was named People’s Choice (Bingo Plus Star of the Night).
The ceremony also honored some of the most influential figures and institutions in Philippine music through the Legacy Awards.
“Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez-Alcasid received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while the late Filipino rap icon Francis Magalona was honored with the Tribute Award, which was accepted by his wife Pia and daughter Maxene.
The Music Foundation Award went to the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit (OPM), while ABS-CBN Music was recognized as Music Company.
