Wedding bells are ringing for Aiko Melendez and Onemig Bondoc as the celebrity couple announced on Tuesday, Oct. 6, that they are officially engaged.
The couple shared the news through a proposal vlog posted on their respective social media pages, showing the emotional moment when Bondoc popped the question while they were visiting the grave of Aiko’s late father, actor Jimi Melendez.
Bondoc revealed that he had sought the blessing of the important people in Aiko’s life, including her mother, siblings, and two children.
“Lahat kinausap ko na simula sa mommy mo, sa kapatid mo, sa dalawa mong anak, nakausap ko na. Pinakahuli kong kinausap tatay mo,” Onemig told Aiko.
“Kaya tayo nandito ngayon sabi ko [handle] mo naman ako sa daddy mo kasi syempre siya ‘yung last, and since feeling ko naman sabi mo nga boto siya sa atin so I decided to pop the question,” he added.
Aiko and Onemig made their relationship Instagram official in January, rekindling their romance after 29 years.
Prior to their reconciliation, Aiko announced her separation from Zambales Representative Jay Khonghun in October 2025.
She has two children from previous relationships: Andre Yllana, whom she shares with ex-husband Jomari Yllana, and Marthena Jickain, her daughter with former husband Martin Jickain.
Meanwhile, Onemig was previously married to Valerie Bariou. They separated in September 2014 and have two children together.
Both Aiko and Onemig have also recently confirmed that they have been annulled from their former partners.
