Rovelyn Baterbonia has denied being behind a social media account that allegedly asked for P25,000 in exchange for attending a school event.
A screenshot of an alleged online conversation circulated online, showing an account bearing Rovelyn’s name supposedly responding to the invitation for a price and referring to the amount as a “donation” for her late son, student-athlete Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia
In a Facebook post, Baterbonia clarified that the account in the conversation was not her real account.
“Hindi po ‘yan akin account. Mga basher lang walang magawa sa buhay kundi kami na [pagtripan],” she wrote.
In August, Baterbonia previously denied accusations that she is profiting from the death of her son, after netizens criticized her for promoting Baterbonia Collections, which offers commemorative merchandise honoring the late basketball player.
“Gusto ko lang po ipaalam sa lahat po ng nagsasabing pinagkakaperahan ko ang anak ko, buhay pa po man siya nagbebenta na po kami ng jersey,” she explained, adding that Rene himself had encouraged the family to continue selling jerseys to help with their household expenses.
