Kim Chiu’s sister, Lakam, has been arrested in connection with 124 counts of qualified theft filed against her by the actress.
According to reports, her arrest was carried out by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) who apprehended Lakam on Sunday, September 20, in Barangay Wack Wack, Mandaluyong City, following a warrant issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 84.
Following her arrest, the QCPD named the 45-year-old businesswoman as “the No. 6 Most Wanted Person of Kamuning Police Station (PS 10)” in an announcement shared on its official Facebook page.
The charges stem from allegations involving corporate funds of House of Little Bunny Philippines, Inc. (HOLB), a company owned by the Chiu siblings.
Kim filed the case in December 2025 after allegedly discovering financial irregularities in the business where Lakam had been involved in the company’s operations and management.
Based on the court’s resolution, there was sufficient basis to charge Lakam with 124 counts of qualified theft involving a total of P44,396,331.65. The court set her bail at P5.838 million.
Lakam’s lawyer Dominic Solis, however, said they have asked the Quezon City Regional Trial Court to lower the amount, citing her inability to pay the bail set by the court.
“We have already filed a motion to reduce the bail. Napakalaki nga po ng amount na hinihingi or recommended and Ms. Chiu at this point of time simply does not have the means to post that entire amount,” Solis told ABS-CBN News.
“Ang hiling po namin ay reasonable bail naman po na hindi magiging hadlang sa kanyang karapatan na pansamantalang makalaya habang nililitis ang kaso,” he added.
Lakam is currently detained at the Police Station 10 custodial facility in Quezon City while awaiting the court’s commitment order and the return of the arrest warrant to the issuing court.
