Nour Hooshmand looked back on a thoughtful gesture from Anne Curtis that left a lasting impression on her as a young actress starting out in the entertainment industry.
The actress shared how “nakakakilig” it is for her to now interact with some of the artists she once only admired from afar.
“Nakakakilig po talaga. Kasi, siyempre iniidolo mo lang yung mga artista na ito,” Nour told PEP.ph in an interview during National Artist Ricky Lee’s recent book launch event.
“And then ngayon, parang nakakausap na nang normal. Parang kilala ka na rin nila kaya nakaka-humble lang talaga. Sobrang grateful.”
When asked which fellow stars she looks up to, Nour named Eugene Domingo and Dolly de Leon, particularly admiring their roots in theater and the careers they built in the industry.
She also had high praise for Anne, whom she described as not only a major star but also someone genuinely kind.
“Marami po talaga na kahanga-hanga, like in terms sa pagkatao din. Anne Curtis, grabe! Like, sobrang laki niya, pero sobrang bait niyang tao. Walang showbiz involved,” she praised the actress-host.
Nour recalled how Anne helped her prepare for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where she attended for the short film “Agapito”.
“Noong nagpunta po ako ng Cannes last year para sa Agapito, tinulungan niya ako. ‘Yung damit ko, siya po ang nagpagawa. Tinulungan niya ako,” she recounted.
“Siya po ang nagpagawa ng damit. Para siyang naging fairy god-diosa. Diosa po talaga siya.”
According to Nour, Anne offered to have her Cannes outfit made after the two worked together on a shoot and learned that they would both be attending the prestigious film festival.
“Opo, magkasama po kami sa shoot nung nalaman po namin na pupunta kami sa Cannes. Bago pa lang ako sa industriya. So, wala po akong resources masyado. And siyempre, magastos po magpagawa ng damit,” she explained.
“Fairy god-diosa po talaga siya. Tinulungan niya ako, na hindi niya pina-publicize or whatever.”
Anne reportedly commissioned designer Mark Bumgarner to create Nour’s Cannes gown.
“Feeling ko, parang princess ako!” reacted Hooshmand. “Pagdating ko po sa ano ni Bumgarner, sabi ko, ‘Omigosh! Wow!’ First time kong ma-experience yon. Sobrang thankful ako.”
“Agapito” premiered in the Short Film Competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in France.
The film is among the three Filipino productions eligible for the 99th Academy Awards, or the Oscars 2027, where it may qualify in the “Best Live Action Short Film” category.
Nour also stars in “Filipiñana”, another Filipino film selected by the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP) as the official Philippine entry to the prestigious awards ceremony.
