Rovelyn Baterbonia has denied accusations that she is profiting from the death of her son, Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia, saying their family had already been selling merchandise even before his passing.
In a Facebook post, Rovelyn addressed the allegations, writing, “Gusto ko lang po ipaalam sa lahat po ng nagsasabing pinagkakaperahan ko ang anak ko, buhay pa po man siya nagbebenta na po kami ng jersey.” She explained that Rene himself had encouraged the family to continue selling jerseys to help with their household expenses.
Rovelyn’s remarks came after she promoted Baterbonia Collections, which offers commemorative merchandise honoring her late son. In an earlier social media post, she invited supporters to visit their booth and purchase items from the collection, saying, “Naka-display po ang mga available products sa aming booth, if ever gusto niyo magkaroon ng collection of our late Rene Baterbonia. See you there po.”
She also stressed that the family never asked for financial assistance. “May pera man po kami, ‘di po ako nanghingi at kusa naman po nagbigay ang mga tumulong sa amin,” she wrote.
Addressing claims that some individuals had allegedly solicited donations in Rene’s name, Rovelyn urged those affected to send her transaction details, saying she would personally file complaints if those involved turned out to be relatives or vloggers.
“Hustisya po ang hiling ko, ‘di po pera!” she added, reiterating that justice remains their family’s priority.
