Ryan Bang on split with ex-fiancée Paola Huyong: ‘Pinaka-dark and hardest time in my life’

-

“It’s Showtime” host Ryan Bang has finally broken his silence on his breakup with former fiancée Paola Huyong, confirming that they have called off their engagement and denying “cheating” speculations surrounding their split.

Bang made the revelation during a candid conversation with fellow host Jackie Gonzaga in Vice Ganda’s latest YouTube vlog titled “Mga Naka Naka Kong Broken, Nagsalita Na!”, where the two discussed their past romantic relationships and heartbreaks.

During the vlog, Ryan confirmed that he has been single since January, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding the status of his relationship with Huyong.

“Yes, I’m single. Personally sa side ko, since January,” he said.

The comedian shared that he did everything he could to save the relationship before ultimately accepting that it had come to an end.

“Tinry ko na ayusin. Kasi alam ko, nung panahon na ‘yon, hindi ko maintindihan ba’t hindi umabot ng ganito,” Bang recalled. “I was trying, I was hoping, I was praying na maayos.”

Ryan admitted that the breakup caught him off guard.

“Biglaan eh. Hindi mo siya nakita na mangyayari,” he said.

Addressing rumors that circulated online following their split, Bang firmly denied allegations that infidelity or a third party was involved in the breakup.

“Syempre sa relationship meron din akong kasalanan pero I never cheat. Hindi totoo ‘yung mga sinasabi ng mga tao. I never cheat. Even before, I never cheat. Hindi ako ganoon,” he stressed.

While defending himself against the accusations, Ryan acknowledged that he also had shortcomings as a partner.

“Serious din ako sa relationship. But syempre meron din akong pagkukulang. Meron din akong kasalanan,” he admitted.

Despite the heartbreak, Bang expressed gratitude for the time he shared with Huyong and her family, while remaining honest about the challenges that ultimately led to the end of their relationship.

“Grateful pa rin ako kasi sobrang bait ng pamilya niya. Hanggang ngayon, pamilya lalo na ‘yung magulang niya. But I was really fixing it, and gusto rin ng pamilya ko na i-fix,” he shared.

Ryan also reflected on what ultimately drove a wedge between him and Huyong, revealing that their cultural differences deeply affected their relationship.

“We found out na magkaiba pala kami ng kultura. Magkaiba pala yung paniniwala. Magkaiba yung gawi at magkaiba pala yung thinking, lalo na pagdating sa marriage,” Ryan explained.

Looking back, Bang described the breakup as the most painful experience he has ever gone through.

“Sobrang hirap. Sobrang pagsisisi nung lahat. In [my whole life], ‘yun ‘yung pinaka-dark and hardest time in my life,” he said. “And yung experience ko na iyon, pinakamabigat sa puso.”

He also shared how difficult it was to deal with public speculation while coping with the emotional aftermath of the separation.

“Ang hirap din sa akin kasi kung ano-ano iniisip ng ibang tao. Baka ganito, baka ganyan. Pero ‘yung mga maling akala, hindi ko sinasagot kasi hayaan mo na lang anong iniisip nila basta alam ko sa sarili ko hindi ganoon,” he said.

Ryan and Paola announced their engagement in June 2024, delighting fans who had followed their romance. The television host first publicly confirmed his relationship with Huyong in August 2023 during an episode of “It’s Showtime.”
