2NE1’s Park Bom claims she was framed as ‘drug addict’ to protect Sandara Park

-

Former 2NE1 member Park Bom has made serious allegations against her bandmate Sandara Park, whom she claimed had “framed” her to cover up the latter’s own drug use controversy.

On Tuesday, March 3, the K-pop singer shared a handwritten letter through a now-deleted Instagram post, revisiting her past issue involving her importation of Adderall into South Korea.

In 2010, Park was embroiled in a high-profile case after reportedly importing 82 pills of Adderall to South Korea through international mail without declaring it to customs or securing approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

According to health websites, Adderall is a psychotropic medication prescribed for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy.

The drug is prohibited in South Korea due to its combined content of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine which are central nervous system stimulants that affect brain chemicals linked to attention, impulse control, and hyperactivity.

Prosecutors later suspended the artist’s indictment after confirming that the medication had been legally prescribed for treatment purposes.

In her recent letter, Park reiterated that the medication was for her diagnosed attention deficit disorder (ADD) and denied wrongdoing.

“I am writing this to share the truth with you. I’m being cautious in case this causes another uproar, but I feel troubled about the drug known as Adderall. It is not a narcotic. I am a patient with ADD,” she wrote, as translated in a report by the Korea JoongAng Daily.

Apart from clarifying her medical condition, Park made a more serious claim, alleging that she had been framed as a “drug addict” to deflect attention from a separate drug controversy involving Sandara Park.

“Sandara Park was caught in a drug case and, to cover it up, made Park Bom into a drug addict,” the singer claimed.

She also mentioned YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk, music producer Teddy Park, and 2NE1 leader CL (Lee Chae-rin), urging them to “stop reporting to the authorities that she more than the prescribed amount of a drug she has not taken in nearly 30 years.”

On Wednesday, March 4, Sandara personally addressed the accusations with a short and direct statement on her Instagram Story.

“I have never used drugs. I wish her well,” her post read.

Park Bom previously went on hiatus from group activities to focus on her health, following medical advice.

In 2024, she reunited with Sandara, CL, and Minzy for 2NE1’s “Welcome Back” global tour, marking their 15th anniversary, with stops across Asia including Manila.
