Inday Barretto, the matriarch of the Barretto clan and the mother of actresses Claudine, Marjorie, and Gretchen Barretto, has passed away.
The sad news was confirmed by Inday’s children in a Facebook post on Thursday night, Jan. 29.
Joaquin Barretto paid tribute to their mother by sharing a photo of a candle set against a black background, captioned: “Rest in peace, Mom. I love you.”
Claudine shared a video on Facebook featuring moments with her mother, further confirming the news with the caption, “Oh Mom. Estrella Castelo Barretto January 29, 2026,”
In another video, the actress showed herself with her mother during what appeared to be her final moments at the hospital, with the caption: “Mommy, we’re gonna be okay. I promise!”
In her most recent Facebook post, Claudine poured out her grief and gratitude in a heartfelt message addressed to her family.
“To my brother & all my sisters, thank you. Magulo man po kami, but in grief, we are all united. We all did our part. JJ, Michie, Gia, G, Marjorie & all the apos pati apo sa tuhod. Pantay-pantay inalagaan ang mommy. We choose peace over everything,” she wrote.
“Goodbye, Mom. We will be ok. How can we not? WE ARE INDAY BARRETTO’s children. The strongest, most loving mother anyone could ask for,” she added.
The family did not disclose the cause of Inday Barretto’s death. However, in September 2024, Claudine had previously asked for prayers for her mother after she was hospitalized due to lupus.
Moreover, based on Joaquin’s social media posts, Inday had been frequently in and out of the hospital during the final months of 2025.
Born Estrella Barretto, Inday was married to Miguel Barretto, who passed away in 2019.
Aside from Claudine, Marjorie, Gretchen, and Joaquin, she is also survived by her children, Michelle and Gia, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Another son, Mito Barretto, had also passed away earlier.
