Talks of Senator Bong Revilla Jr.’s appearance on Alden Richards‘ teleserye, The Gift, have disturbed several netizens.
In a report from Pilipino Star Ngayon, it was mentioned that Revilla’s guest appearance for the television drama series is in the works.
The hashtag, #NOtoBongRevillaOnTheGift, circulated on Twitter early today, with fans of the serye expressing their disapproval on the possible guesting.
One netizen said: “No matter what I will always be your fan @aldenrichards02 but my principles, morals and love for the country come first in this situation.”
The senator was charged for plunder and graft for his alleged participation in the pork barrel scam, but he was acquitted of plunder charges for lack of proof on kickbacks he supposedly received. He still faces 16 counts of graft.
“Just in case you needed reminding, @gmanetwork @gmadrama 224-million plunder case where he funneled his pork barrel through ghost projects and NGOs #NoToBongRevillaOnTheGift,” another said.
“Alden should be aware sa sentiments ng fans niyo on anything that concerns him, especially when backlash of any kind (because of guesting the corrupt senator) is possible #NoToBongRevillaOnTheGift,” a netizen said.
Revilla’s upcoming drama-fantasy anthology show was met with some backlash after singer-composer Jim Paredes bashed TV network GMA 7 for choosing the senator for a show that will provide moral lessons for kids.
Amid his duties as a senator, Revilla has remained in the showbiz limelight. A film with Maine Mendoza for this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival is to be expected from him.
