Markus Paterson on baby reveal with Janella Salvador: ‘Sobrang natakot kami nung una’

After months of keeping their baby a secret, Markus Paterson said that finally revealing his firstborn with Janella Salvador lifted a “huge weight off our shoulders.”

Markus and Janella, both 22, introduced their son Jude Trevor to the public via a vlog on their newly-launched YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Based on the video timestamp, Baby Jude was born on October 20, 2020 in the United Kingdom (UK).

During a virtual interview with Rise Artists Studio, the Fil-British actor-singer admitted that they kept the pregnancy news to themselves out of fear and desire to protect their baby from the “harsh world”.

“Sobrang natakot kami nung una because we knew that the world is very harsh and right now isn’t the very best environment. Well, now it is. Kaya nga inilabas namin. Pero noong una, talagang we want to shield him from everything and keep everything as quiet as possible,” said Markus.

He added that only a few of their family members and close friends knew that he and Janella were expecting.

“Super small circle lang,” related Markus. “Finally it’s such a huge weight off our shoulders na parang, my goodness, noh.”

Markus also recalled the first time he saw and held his son.

“Ang hirap i-explain eh, pero the moment na I saw him parang a whole wave just kinda took over my body na parang lahat ng priorities ko ay nawala, went out of the window, like everything is now for him, forever will be for this little man that I’m holding in my arms.”

He added, “Hindi ako naiyak, hindi ako natawa, parang nakatulala lang ako, nakakatitig sa kanya for hours. Like until now, his smiles are the most beautiful thing in the world. Lahat ng hirap, lahat ng early morning wake-up, sobrang worth it kapag nakita ko ‘yung mukha niya. It’s all about him na. It’s crazy.”

After going public with their relationship last September, rumors emerged that Janella was pregnant with Markus’ first child and giving birth in the UK, where they have been staying since late last year.
