‘Deeply humbled’: Angel Locsin lands on ‘most influential’ lists

Angel Locsin is ending her year with a spot in several lists of “most influential” celebrities.

This week, she made it to Forbes Asia’s list of most influential celebrities on social media across the Asia-Pacific region, joining the likes of K-pop superstars BTS and Blackpink, and Australian Hollywood star Hugh Jackman.

“With over 19 million followers, actress Angel Locsin is the second-most popular Filipina celebrity on Facebook after fellow Digital Star Marian Rivera-Dantes. Locsin has donated about 15 million pesos ($310,000) over the past decade to various causes, earning her a spot on the 2019 Forbes Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy list. Recently, Locsin helped raise 11.3 million pesos for the purchase of 246 hospital tents for medical workers fighting the pandemic,” Forbes Asia said of the actress in a media release.

Angel said she is both “deeply humbled and honored” to be chosen among Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars.

“Thank you, Forbes, for this platform wherein we can give back to the people who enabled us to be where we are today and to hopefully inspire others as well to do their part to the best of their ability to improve the lives of others. Because a small gesture can create a ripple effect if we can influence others to do the same,” she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday.

Prior to the Forbes Asia list, she was declared as the Most Influential Celebrity of the Decade at the 10th EdukCircle Awards.

“I believe we all have the responsibility to do what it is right, to influence one another, to lift each other up, to create awareness on important matters, to use our voice for the voiceless,” she said as she thanked the award.

This December, she also landed a spot on Tatler’s first-ever Asia’s Most Influential List.

She also graced the cover of the year-ender issue, which described Angel as “one of the most impactful voices that is helping define the future of Asia.”
