Gerald Anderson, Emilienne Vigier voice support for Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia’s reunion film

Gerald Anderson and Emilienne Vigier, the current partners of former reel-to-real couple Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, have publicly shown their support for the pair’s latest film, Un/Happy For You.

Anderson, who is dating Barretto, shared that he considers himself a “silent supporter” of his girlfriend’s new project with her former boyfriend in an interview with ABS-CBN News on Monday, August 12.

“I’m here as a silent supporter. […] Alam ko pinaghirapan niya ‘yan. That’s why it’s been like this, naging okay kami for so many years is because sinusuportahan namin ang isa’t isa,” Gerald said.

When asked if he fully trusts Julia despite her working with an ex, the actor acknowledged that their profession can indeed be awkward.

“Well, sa totoo lang, awkward talaga ng trabaho namin. Gano’n talaga. I’ve been in that… Nando’n ako sa sitwasyon [na ‘yon] before. That’s why I try to be as supportive as possible,” he added.

Anderson also explained his decision to avoid attending the film’s premiere, citing his desire not to “draw attention away” from Barretto and Garcia.

On the other hand, Emilienne Vigier, a Filipino-French athlete who is currently romantically linked with Joshua, expressed her pride after watching Un/Happy For You.

Taking to Instagram Stories on Saturday, Vigier shared her thoughts on the film, marking it as the first time she watched a movie featuring Barretto and Garcia together.

“I didn’t really get to watch a lot of Filipino films growing up, so to be honest, I’ve never really seen any of your films together, Joshua and Julia… until now,” she wrote.

Vigier praised the cast and acknowledged the emotional impact their performances have had on audiences.

“You all have my utmost respect for the craft you have. Making so many Filipinos happy and comforted with your undeniable talent all around the world. Salamat,” she added.

The film Un/Happy For You initially drew attention from fans and curiosity from the public after being announced that it would reunite the former love team.

The ex-couple announced their split in 2019. They were last reunited in the music video of Moira Dela Torre’s Paubaya in 2021.

Meanwhile, the movie earned an impressive P20.5 million in ticket sales on its opening day and has already reached a remarkable P104 million in total gross within just four days.
