Alden Richards shares the reason why he established a scholarship foundation

“I wasn’t able to finish school myself. So parang the reason why I decided to put up a foundation for education is to break a certain cycle in the lives of Filipino kids who are struggling with school,” sey niya.

“Sinasabi nila na parang hindi hadlang ang kahirapan sa edukasyon, but actually it is a hindrance,” wika niya.

“Because hindi enough yung passion mo, hindi enough yung dreams mo for you to be able to fulfill and finish school. But there [are] certain factors in our society, also when it comes to education that requires funding, that requires money,” saad niya.

“Kasi hindi naman papasok ka sa school ’di ba, syempre, may pamasahe ka… you need to pay for school projects as well, and yung other necessities,” dagdag pa nito.

“So the reason why I put up a foundation is to make these kids fulfill their dreams, and you know, let them know that there are extended help… May it be for allowance, or yung actual tuition fees, or kung ano man yung pwede naming maitulong sa kanila,” pahayag niya.

“It’s for the main reason of changing their lives and breaking the cycle of yung nakasanayan natin na pag wala, manghihingi.

“That’s a certain cycle I didn’t want them to experience kasi dumating din ako sa ganung point in my life,” dagdag pa niya.

“Ang maganda kasi with all the other scholars actually, even tapos na sila, actually, we have 5 right now who are finished [with] college already, they come back. They come back to us and ask us kung ano pa yung pwede nilang matulong, because that’s what I’ve been doing, telling them na pay it forward,” wika ng aktor.

“Nakaka-inspire. Sakin nga, more than enough na yung I am able to see them fly and graduate, parang that’s more than a fulfillment para sakin,” pagpapatuloy niya pa.
