TV5 issues statement after Raffy Tulfo exposes alleged incident between employee and independent contractor

TV5 Network has released a statement after Senator Raffy Tulfo called attention to an alleged incident between its employee and an independent contractor.

In a statement issued on social media, TV5 said it is aware of the matter, saying they have released a Notice to Explain and has conducted an investigation “to determine the facts and take the appropriate action.”

“We have reached out to the persons concerned and are gathering information. Rest assured that the rights and welfare of all parties shall be protected,” the network stated.

“TV5 remains committed to fostering a safe working environment. We ask everyone to kindly reserve judgment pending our investigation,” it added.

Tulfo earlier expressed his dismay over a program manager of the network’s News and Public Affairs alleged sexual harassment of a 22-year-old talent/news researcher.

During the airing of his program Wanted sa Radyo on Friday, August 9, called out the program manager to face the allegations and speak up on the matter.

“Ako po ay nananawagan sa TV5. I am sorry, ako po ay member ninyo dito sa TV5 because I have my own show sa TV5. Pero hindi ko po kukunsintihin.

However, Tulfo was told that the said program manager was apparently advised by the management not to address the issue on-air.

Tulfo even got more infuriated after learning that the program manager still comes to work despite the complaint against him.

“Ako po ay nananawagan sa TV5. I am sorry, ako po ay member ninyo dito sa TV5 because I have my own show sa TV5. Pero hindi ko po kukunsintihin.

The broadcaster-politician then called the attention of the network’s management and the Human Resources to take appropriate actions, even suggesting suspending the program manager for his alleged misconduct.

Tulfo also threatened to leave his program and submit his resignation if the management fails to take pertinent action on the matter.

“Ngayon, dahil nagsalita po ako, gusto ninyo po akong sibakin, sibakin ninyo ako. I am more than happy and willing to submit my resignation if that’s what you want,” he said in his program.

“Gusto ko lang po ilabas ang sama ko ng loob na may naaaping tao tapos nagbibingi-bingihan tayo,” he added, urging the management to uphold fairness in addressing the issue.

The program manager is facing allegations of sexual harassment after the 22-year-old talent/news researcher claimed that he was taken advantage of while he was drunk after going to a bar in Poblacion, Makati.
