Pia Wurtzbach to auction Miss Universe gowns for a cause

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach has announced her plan to auction the gowns she wore throughout her Miss Universe journey to support a charitable cause.

The beauty queen revealed her plans in an Instagram post showing her wearing one of the gowns that will be auctioned.

According to Pia, it was designed by Filipino designer Mark Bumgarner and was specially made for her to wear during the Binibining Pilipinas 2024 coronation night on Sunday, July 7.

“Feels good to walk the Binibini stage in @markbumgarner 💙,” Wurtzbach began in her post.

“I requested Mark to make this gown especially for the @bbpilipinasofficial anniversary, which will be part of the auction I’m having at year’s end in support of the youth center project I’m collaborating on with @loveyourself.ph,” she shared.

“Keep an eye out for its release in a few months, alongside gowns from other designers worn throughout my journey as Miss Universe. ✨,” added Pia.

The proceeds from the auction will go towards the youth center project Pia is working on with LoveYourself Philippines, an organization dedicated to promoting self-worth, HIV awareness, and support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Pia recently participated in the Tahanang Makulay event, celebrating Pride with Dr. Ronnivin Pagtakhan of LoveYourself Philippines.

The event featured powerful discussions on LGBTQIA+ and HIV advocacy, held at the Department of Migrant Workers and led by Undersecretary Patricia Caunan.

In her post, Pia expressed her excitement about their comprehensive program for sexual health, SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics), and mental health for migrant workers.

The program aims to raise awareness through social media campaigns, educational videos, and training sessions. It also includes onsite testing, resource centers, and mental health services to ensure accessible and confidential support for all.

“LoveYourself’s dedication to supporting our OFWs and migrant workers in HIV awareness and care truly shines through. Pride isn’t confined to June—it’s a journey we embrace every day, ensuring inclusivity and support for everyone. ❤️,” Pia wrote.

The auction is set to take place at the end of the year, with more details to be released in the coming months.
