Diwata sells first pares pot to Boss Toyo for P3K

Viral paresan owner Diwata has sold the first pot he used in cooking pares to YouTuber Boss Toyo.

The street food sensation recently graced an episode of Pinoy Pawnstars hosted by collector Boss Toyo, known as Jayson Luzadas in real life, where the latter personally offered his cooking pot to the collector.

Diwata got sentimental as he shared the backstory of the well-used pot which had been used since 2020, back in the early years of his pares business that began with a pushcart.

“Nasimula kasi ako sa pagpapares, cart lang siya. May nagbenta sa ‘kin ng second hand na cart ta’s bumili ako ng kaldero,” he shared.

Due to not having his own space to sell his food, his pushcart was eventually taken during a clearing operation. The cooking pot was the only thing he could keep from the incident.

“Actually ‘yung cart na ‘yun wala na ‘yun eh, na-clearing din ‘yun eh, kinuha ng clearing operations, hindi ko na natubos. Ito, naiwan ‘yung kaldero ko,” Diwata told Boss Toyo.

Upon inspecting the pot, Toyo noticed that it had a hole. To this, Diwata bargained, “May butas na siya pero pwede namang tagpian na lang natin.”

The pares vendor initially presented an asking price of P3,500, but Luzadas countered the offer down to P2,500. Diwata jokingly remarked that he would even include his slippers as a “freebie”.

Boss Toyo eventually settled to buy the cooking pot for P3,000 which included Diwata’s personal signature.

The cherished item will be showcased in the vlogger’s soon-to-be-established museum dedicated to memorabilia from several Pinoy artists and personalities.

Toyo recently acquired former child actor Nino Muhlach’s Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) trophy for Best Child Performer in 1977 for the price of half a million.
