‘Kinabahan kayo ‘no?’: Pinoy celebs, netizens hilariously react to temporary shutdown of Meta-owned apps

Thousands of users experienced login issues on Meta apps, specifically on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger on Tuesday evening.

Over 500,000 reports of outages for Facebook and about 92,000 for Instagram were recorded by the outage tracking website downdetector.ph, according to Reuters‘ report.

The more than two-hour outage caused widespread confusion among users around the globe as they were reportedly locked out from their accounts as they were unable to log in experiencing issues.

Luckily, netizens were able to take “shelter” in X’s platform as its servers remained up for those affected by the Meta apps shut down.

X’s owner Elon Musk even took a swipe at Meta with a post accompanied by a meme bearing a screenshot of Meta spokesperson Andy Stone’s post on X about resolving the accessing issue in the said Meta apps.

“If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working,” Musk’s caption read.

Pinoy online users took to X to express their reactions to the shutdown, resulting to “Meta”, “#facebookshutdown”, “#instagramdown”, “FACEBOOK AND MESSENGER”, “Mark Zuckerberg” becoming among the top trending topics on the platform.

Local showbiz and online personalities also reacted to the global outage, including actors Jerald Napoles and Wilbert Ross.

“Kinabahan ka noh. ?,” Jerald wrote in his Instagram, along with a selfie photo of him pointing at users behind their phones.

Meanwhile, Nikko commented on users “moving back to X” after experiencing problems with the apps.

“Ganun ba yun? Pag down ka sa lahat Bumabalik ka sa X? Mali yan kaibigan,” Wilbert wrote in his X post.

Kapamilya noontime show It’s Showtime appeared to have made a similar comment on its official X page.

“Nawala lang siya bumalike agad sa “X”? ?”, its post read.

Popular TikToker Arshie Larga and actor Yani De Dios, brother of SB19’s Justin, also shared similar remarks on X involving their mothers’ difficulty with the online situation.

Meanwhile, comedian Awra Briguela rejoiced in the return of the apps with a meme of Pinay content creator Madam Inutz.

Pinoy netizens also took their share of funny remarks and memes reacting to the widespread shutdown on Facebook and Instagram shared on X.

After a while, Meta announced that its services had been restored in an announcement made on Facebook.

“And we’re back ? So sorry for those who were unable to access Facebook earlier today,” Facebook said in their post.
