Michelle Dee speaks up after Miss Universe El Salvador apologizes over graphics blunder

Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Marquez Dee asked for respect following Miss Universe El Salvador’s apology over its Top 5 Miss Universe graphics blunder during the prestigious pageants’ coronation night.

“There should be no room for error but the reality is that we live in an imperfect world. My request is not just to be respectful to the delegates but to the supporters that are so passionate about this platform as well,” Michelle wrote on her Instagram channel on Thursday.

She added, “But again, everything happens for a reason and it’s just a matter of seeing it as a lesson or a blessing. So always act with love, kindness, and respect. All love”.

Earlier today, Miss Universe El Salvador released on Instagram a statement addressing the viral graphics card that showed Dee among the Top 5 finalists instead of Thailand’s Anntonia Porsild, as what was announced on the pageant’s live broadcast.

Miss Universe El Salvador apologized for having a mix-up on the names of the two finalists, explaining they were in a rush to post the now-deleted graphics.

Dee finished her Miss Universe journey in the Top 10 while Porsild was placed first runner-up.

“Our mistake! In the rush to get our posts up during Saturday’s live broadcast, we accidentally mixed up the names of two finalists,” wrote Miss Universe El Salvador on Instagram.

“This was a simple error of moving too fast – we heard the same results live at the same time that you all did, no special access over here! We’re sorry to both finalists,” they added.

Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, claimed the first-ever Miss Universe crown for their country.
