How did E.A.T. pilot telecast fare vs Eat Bulaga, It’s Showtime in TV ratings game?

TV5 revealed the TV ratings performance of its new noontime show E.A.T. against rival shows, It’s Showtime and Eat Bulaga, on its pilot episode aired on Saturday, July 1.

In a tweet posted by TV5’s news outlet News5, a photo of last Saturday’s “noontime show highlights” showed the now-Kapatid noontime show beating its competitors with a huge gap in program ratings.

“EAToooooo ang tunay na tinutukan ng sambayanang Pilipino! Ang naghatid ng isang libo’t isang tuwa sa publiko!,” News5 wrote in its tweet.

“Numbers won’t lie, sabi nga nila. Maraming salamat sa solid na suporta sa #TVJ at #LegitDabarkads, mga Kapatid! #News5#TVJonTV5#TVJMediaQuest,” the news outlet thanked E.A.T.’s viewers.

Upon airing E.A.T.’s pilot episode, TV5 recorded an “average program rating” of 8.4 percent.

It’s Showtime, which aired on multiple platforms, registered a 2.39 percent rating on GMA’s GTV Channel, 1.28 percent on A2Z, and 0.27 percent on the Kapamilya Channel. Meanwhile, the revamped Eat Bulaga on GMA 7 got a 2.62 percent rating.

It was announced on June 28 that the GMA network took the Kapamilya noontime show under its wing after inking a “historic deal” to air It’s Showtime on the noontime slot of GMA’s second free-to-air channel GTV starting July 1.

Prior to It’s Showtime’s move to the Kapuso network, the Vice Ganda-led program was offered an afternoon timeslot to give way to the new noontime show of Eat Bulaga’s original hosts on TV5.

TV5’s proposal was rejected by the Kapamilya program because according to Vice, it didn’t align with their “noontime brand,” which then led to their transfer to GTV.

E.A.T.’s pilot episode on the Kapatid network marks the hosting trio Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon’s (TVJ) return to live television after a month since they parted ways with producer Television and Production Exponent (TAPE), Inc. on May 31.

The episode coincided with It’s Showtime’s first airing on GTV channel, and revamped Eat Bulaga’s “first monthsary”.
