Paolo Contis’ kids with Lian Paz want to drop actor’s surname

Paolo Contis’ estranged daughters with ex-wife Lian Paz no longer want to carry their father’s surname.

This was revealed by Lian in a recent Instagram post where she expressed pride over Xonia finishing first year high school at the top of her class.

The Instagram post showed photos of Xonia’s recognition day with Lian and her fiancé John Cabahug in attendance.

Photos also included Xonia’s certificates of academic achievements with her full name in display.

While netizens left congratulatory messages in the comments section, some also made a fuss over Lian’s kids still bearing their father’s last name.

“Palitan niyo na po apelyido nya hehe wala namang support… just saying po,” one commented.

Another said, “Dapat di na Contis ang dala na surname ng mga bata. Di naman need bigyan pa ng credit and iresponsableng ama.”

“Bitbit pa apelyido wala namang ambag ahahaha anyway congrats.. you have a long way to go.. Aim high,” another wrote.

To which Lian replied, “Asking na nga po ang mga bata to have it changed (crying face emoji).”

The former EB Babes member also stated in a separate Instagram post that her daughters Xonia and Xalene’s longtime request will be soon fulfilled.

“Mama and Dada [are] always here for both of you!!! Dadating din yung time for what you have been requesting for matagal na… yan din ang gusto ni daddy nyo,” Lian said referring to John.

In an interview with The Philippine STAR in 2022, John revealed her plans of legally adopting Xonia and Xalene.

The basketball player-turned-entrepreneur has long considered Lian’s daughters as his own kids.

“Di namin sila tinuruan, sila lang yung tumawag sa kanya ng Daddy. Nagulat na lang kami,” Lian shared in the STAR interview.

The couple, who have been together for nine years, have a blended family of six. They have a daughter named Niña Angela whom they welcomed in 2016. John is also a dad to Lexy, his daughter from a previous relationship.

On the other hand, Paolo, in a past episode of Fast Talk With Boy Abunda, confessed his fear over being resented by his estranged daughters in the future.

“Kung pag-uusapan ang love, sobrang love ko sila. Pero you know, feeling ko reality lang. Hindi naman na sa akin lumaki, especially si Xonia and Xalene. So para ma-hate nila ako, ‘yun ang pinaka-fear ko,” said the Kapuso actor.

“To be honest, nasa stage ako na maging magkaibigan lang tayo eventually. Civil lang. Huwag lang galit.

“Hopefully it will come, maybe, I have no idea. Pero, that’s my biggest fear, is for them to actually hate me.”
