Bongbong Marcos lauds Toni Gonzaga, Paul Soriano for ‘fine work’ in presidential bid

Toni Gonzaga and husband Paul Soriano received heaps of praises from presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for playing a huge part in his presidential campaign.

“We should congratulate them for the fine work that they did,” Marcos Jr. referred to the celebrity couple during a thanksgiving party, in a video shared by Paul on social media.

He also lauded Toni for standing strong despite the scrutiny she received since she released her interview with the late dictator’s son titled “The Greatest Lesson Bongbong Marcos Learned From His Father” in September 2021.

“Sabi ko nga kanina na siya, ang nag-start ng kampanya na ito. Noong pumutok ang interview sa akin at kriniticize siya, ang tapang tapang nito,” said Marcos Jr., adding that the controversial interview which gained traction online, pushed his hopes of seeking presidency.

“I didn’t expect that this elegant lady would be able to withstand these criticisms. Sabi ko nga kay Paul, ‘yung asawa mo, lahat ng problema kayang harapin.’ Nag-10 million, 11 million yung aming interview, sabi ko mukhang may pag-asa tayo, puwede na natin itakbo,” stated Marcos Jr.

The former senator also commended Paul who helmed the advertisements for his and running Sara Duterte’s electoral campaign.

“Sinundan pa ni Paul who did our ads. Sa aking palagay, nobody can contest at malayung-malayo. Ginagaya nga eh. Di ba yung isa o dalawang ads natin ginagaya? They were that good and we kept the momentum going and the message alive,” said Bongbong.

Paul and Toni are known to be associated with Marcos Jr. as the latter is their wedding godfather. Paul is also the nephew of Bongbong’s wife, Liza Araneta-Marcos.

Marcos Jr. won the presidential race by landslide with 31 million votes, based on the Commsion on Election’s partial, unofficial results.

“Thank you to our President Bongbong Marcos for your generous and kind words. Grateful and honored !!,” Paul captioned the video.
