Maymay Entrata has threatened to take legal action against a YouTube video spreading fake news that her non-showbiz boyfriend is a scammer and a fake.

On Tuesday, February 22, the Kapamilya star took to Twitter to denounce the news, telling the uploader to delete the video and stop spreading false information.

“Kapag ‘di niyo po buburahin at patuloy niyo pong ‘pag s-spread ng false information para manira ng buhay ng ibang tao, wag niyo na po sanang hintayin na aabot tayo sa husgado. Maraming salamat po,” she wrote.

Maymay also tagged the uploader, a certain @ThecardodingS, in the following tweet, who has now deactivated his Twitter account.

At press time, the video has been deleted on YouTube by the uploader TheCardoding Show. The video’s thumbnail and title stated that Maymay’s boyfriend was a scammer who was seen in a documentary as “the Tinder scammer.”

The documentary being referred is The Tinder Swindler which is about Israeli conman Simon Leviev who utilized the dating app Tinder to find women to emotionally manipulate so they could give him their finances to support his luxurious lifestyle. In the 2022 film, the group of women attempted to find Leviev and recover the millions of dollars he defrauded from them.

Meanwhile, a lot of netizens came to the actress-singer’s defense after her tweet, chiding the uploader for spreading fake news about her.

It was last February 14 when Maymay surprised her fans after sharing a sweet Instagram photo with her “Valentino,” greeting him a happy birthday on Valentine’s Day.

Her post was well-received by celebrity colleagues and netizens alike, sharing their kilig for her and her special someone.

Last June 2021, Maymay denied any romantic links with her showbiz colleagues before hinting that she is happy with someone away from showbiz.

In a previous interview, she noted: “Nabanggit ko naman po ito sa isang magazine na may nagpapasaya sa akin. Hanggang doon na lang, basta wala sa showbiz.”
