After 16 years, Toni Gonzaga ‘signs off’ as PBB’s main host

Toni Gonzaga has announced that she is signing off as the main host of ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, the actress-host thanked “Kuya” in a statement saying that it has been “my greatest honor” to host the Kapamilya reality show.

“From witnessing all my co-hosts transition from housemates to PBB hosts are just some of the best moments in my life sa bahay ni Kuya! Today, I’m stepping down as your main host,” said Toni.

ABS-CBN News entertainment journalist MJ FeIipe earlier reported that Toni has voluntarily endorsed the hosting job to her co-host Bianca Gonzalez.

“I know Bianca and the rest of the hosts will continue the PBB legacy. It has been my privilege to greet you all with ‘Hello Philippines’ and ‘Hello World’ for the last 16 years. Thank you Kuya for everything.

“I will forever cherish the memories, big nights and moments in my heart.

“This is your angel, now signing off…

Toni’s announcement came a day after she hosted the proclamation of presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

The multimedia star has been on Twitter’s local trending topics as netizens expressed mixed reactions on her appearance at the said campaign where she introduced senatorial bet Rodante Marcoleta who was among those who voted against ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.

Toni previously earned backlash from anti-Marcos netizens after releasing last September on her YouTube series Toni Talks an interview with Bongbong, who is her and husband Paul Soriano’s wedding godfather. Paul is also the nephew of Bongbong’s wife Liza Araneta.
