Celebrities cheer for Nesthy Petecio’s silver medal win at Tokyo Olympics

These celebrities lauded boxer Nesthy Petecio after bagging the second medal for the Philippines at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Nesthy clinched the silver medal after a unanimous decision win for Sena Irie of Japan in the women’s featherweight boxing finals on Tuesday, August 3.

The 29-year-old Davaoeño made history as the first Filipina boxer to win a medal in the Olympics.

Following her silver medal finish, Nesthy in a press conference became emotional and apologized after falling short of getting the second gold medal after weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz. She said she had wanted to dedicate it to her coaches.

Nesthy, nevertheless, said she’ll push through with the hunt for the elusive boxing gold medal in the Paris 2024 Games.

Just like Pinay weightlifter gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, Nesthy is also set to receive cash rewards and other pledges of incentives from several brands and companies.

Meanwhile, take a look at these celebrities who thanked and congratulated Nesthy for bringing home another medal for the country.
