In a 2012 interview with television host Boy Abunda, then-newcomer Yam Concepcion named who she wanted as leading man if she were given the chance to do an ABS-CBN teleserye.
Yam, who was 24 years old at the time, was promoting her debut film Rigodon, an erotic thriller directed by Erik Matti.
She didn’t think twice and answered, “Gerald Anderson.”
Asked why she wanted to be paired with him, Yam said, “I think he’s really talented and he’s very good-looking.”
Nine years later, Yam had her dream fulfilled through the upcoming Kapamilya sexy drama Init Sa Magdamag where Gerald is one of her leading men along with JM de Guzman.
The actress earlier shared how it was working with Gerald amid netizens’ “womanizer tag” on the actor and warning that she be careful of him.
“Nababasa ko ‘yung mga comments. Nakakatawa at nakakatuwa na makita ‘yung reaction nila. Nakakatawa kasi sabi ng mga netizens, ‘O, Yam, magi-ingat ka kay Gerald, ah!’ Iyon ‘yung mga nababasa ko,” Yam laughingly said.
She added, “Honestly, hindi ko naman kailangan mag-ingat. Siyempre nakikita nila sa TV, sinasabi nila, ‘Naku, matinik sa babae ‘yan! Hindi loyal.’ Hindi, eh. ‘Pag katrabaho mo si Gerald, he’s very professional at saka very gentleman. Hindi niya pinaramdam sa akin na may mali siya.”
Currently, Yam is in a long-term, long-distance relationship with a non-showbiz guy whom she described as “the love of my life.”
