Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach went makeup-free and shared a barefaced selfie as she joined the #AsSheIs challenge on Instagram.
Contrary to what most people think, the 30-year-old beauty queen said she also struggles with being comfortable in her own skin.
Nevertheless, she took a picture of herself without the usual styling and glam team hoping to inspire “others who need it”.
“Every day, we all struggle to be comfortable with our imperfections. But today, I’m taking this picture to say hello ME,” she wrote in the caption.
“Just me. No makeup. No glam team. No styling. And, I’m happy with what I see,” she added.
She advised her followers to practice self-love and skin-positivity.
“Life’s too short to be unkind to yourself. So treat your face and your body as an instrument, not an ornament.
“An instrument to inspire, uplift and encourage yourself and others who need it,” she ended.
It was upon the nomination of Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters that Pia took on the #AsSheIs challenge, which dares Instagram users to share natural and “authentic” snaps of themselves in this age of filters and editing software.
Pia also nominated her Miss U successor Iris Mittenaere and Miss Universe-Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados to participate in the challenge.
Earlier, reigning Miss U Catriona Gray joined the trend and said: “I too have days where I don’t feel confident, or my insecurities are louder…but that’s okay. Loving yourself as you are is a journey, but it’s a journey worth taking.”
