ABS-CBN expressed on social media its gratitude to celebrities and news personalities from rival station GMA 7 who showed solidarity with the embattled network.
The media giant went off air Tuesday night “in compliance” with the National Telecommunications Commission’s cease and desist order after the network’s 25-year congressional franchise expired last Monday, May 4.
The online world was flooded with red, green and blue hearts from supporters of the Kapamilya network after the news broke out.
Candles were lit outside ABS-CBN’s headquarters in Quezon City as the NTC ordered the network to stop operating its TV and radio stations nationwide.
Kapuso mainstays like Maine Mendoza, Julie Ann San Jose and Bea Binene also rallied behind the Kapamilyas.
GMA 7 broadcasters also sympathized with the rival network’s current situation.
The Kapamilya network then expressed its thanks to the Kapuso station through a tweet with an attached article titled “Kapuso celebs send red, green, blue in solidarity”.
