The award-winning 2023 historical film “GomBurZa” will be available for streaming on Netflix in celebration of Araw ng Kagitingan.
The most awarded Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) 2023 entry is set to be released on the popular streaming platform worldwide this April 9, to celebrate the country’s Day of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan.
As part of the national celebration, a call to honor the country’s rich history encourages citizens, whether in the Philippines or abroad, to watch the highly acclaimed real-life epic that tells the story of three priests’ heroism and resilience during the Spanish colonial period.
Starring actors Dante Rivero, Cedrick Juan, Enchong Dee, Pepe Diokno’s GomBurZa refers to Catholic priests Mariano Gomez (Rivero), Jose Burgos (Juan), and Jacinto Zamora (Dee), whose wrongful conviction by the Spanish government made them martyrs of the Philippine Revolution.
The film previously won several awards such as the Second Best Picture Award, the Audience Choice Award, and Best Cinematographer during the first-ever Manila International Film Awards last February 3, 2024.
Meanwhile, Netflix has also released the schedule of other MMFF 2023 movies to be exclusively available for streaming on the platform including, “Rewind”, “Becky and Badette”, “Kampon”, “Family of Two”, “Mallari”, and “Penduko”.
