Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli’s Tala MV reaches 100 million views on YouTube

Going strong, Tala nation!

Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo-Guidicelli’s Tala music video has surpassed the 100 million YouTube views mark on Thursday, the first for a local female solo artist to reach the milestone.

The video originally uploaded on June 11, 2016, currently has 100,243,713 views as of writing.

Tala, written by Nica del Rosario and Emmanuel Sambayan, was a hit song upon its release three years ago, but gained more popularity late 2019. It has since become a viral dance craze with the hashtags #TalaDanceChallenge taking over the internet.

Netizens, as well as local and international celebrities, took on the dance challenge.

Last January, the song entered US Billboard’s Digital Song sales chart, landing on the 12 spot with the likes of global K-pop artists BTS, Blackpink and Red Velvet.

Tala also landed on Spotify’s Global Viral 50, as well as YouTube’s weekly global chart of world’s most viewed music videos.

Sarah’s fans collectively known as Popsters celebrated their idol’s feat via the hashtag #SarahGGTALA100MillionViews, a top trending topic on Twitter.

Other OPM songs to reach over 100 million views in YouTube are Buwan by Juan Karlos and Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw by December Avenue feat. Moira Dela Torre.

Congratulations on your new milestone, Mrs. Guidicelli!
