Megastar Sharon Cuneta shed tears while performing her famous song Mr. DJ with Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez during the first night of their Iconic concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

Mr. DJ was composed by Rey Valera and became one of Sharon’s best-loved hits.

A 12-year-old Sharon recorded the now OPM classic in 1989. The song paved the way for her to pursue a successful career in the music industry.

Additionally, Sharon was emotional while singing Regine’s hit Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw.

“Hindi ko rin po alam kung bakit. When I first heard this song, I wished it was mine,” she explained.

“Concert ba ito or pelikula?” she asked the crowd with tears in her eyes.

Sharon cried several times during the concert and kept on saying that she was so emotional because of her nearing “vacation” or her planned “semi-retirement” from the showbiz industry.

Earlier this month, while promoting her two-night concert with Regine, Sharon told reporters that it was going to be one of the last shows that she would do.

Sharon celebrated her 40th anniversary in show business last year.
