Iza Calzado appeals to public not to discriminate COVID-19 patients

“Let’s treat each other with compassion and respect.”

Since healing from the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, Kapamilya star Iza Calzado asked the public not to be hostile to those affected by the illness.

“Gusto ko lang po mag-appeal sa lahat ng tao. May I just say this, wag po natin bigyan ng stigma ang COVID-19. Yung mga taong nakakaranas, wag po nating pandirihan kasi na-experience ko po ito,” she said in a report from Pilipino Star Ngayon

Calzado urged the public to be sensitive in interacting with COVID-19 positive patients. “Siguro ang importante lang, i-check lang natin sila, kamusta sila, iparamdam natin na nandito tayo para sa kanila,” she said.

She also asked those with symptoms to immediately inform those they have interacted with.

The actress also clarified that her husband Ben Wintle was never a person under investigation since he did not exhibit any symptoms of the illness.

“Ikaklaro ko lang po, kasi ilang beses kaming humingi ng test para sa kanya pero healthy nga eh, ni isang ubo, nothing, no fever. Hindi siya binigyan ng test kasi ang daming mas nangangailangan ng test kit,” she said.

Calzado tested positive for the virus on March 28. A week after, she tested negative and was discharged from the hospital.
