Nurses from Lipa, Batangas use TikTok to cheer up fellow frontliners

A group of intensive care unit (ICU) nurses from Mary Mediatrix Medical Center in Lipa City, Batangas made a dance music video using social media platform TikTok on Tuesday.

Uploader Annielyn Reyes said they chose the music Fight Song by Rachel Platten because the lyrics is very timely to the COVID-19 situation.

“Kasi ‘yung lyrics po niya napapanahon sa ganito na situation,” Reyes said.

“Pag naisolate ka [because of COVID-19] feeling mo small boat ka na palutang lutang kasi bawal ang mga relatives na dumalaw sayo,” she added.

Reyes said they made the video to encourage health workers and other frontliners not to give up amid their struggles and difficulties in facing the health crisis.

“Para po sa mga naexposed na mga frontliners… to encourage them na wag susuko kasi marami kami nag mamahal and nag papray na gumaling na sila,” she said.

“Para sa kasamahan namin na nurses and doctors, pagaling (kayo). Andito lang kami,” she added.

Reyes said that the video was actually their entry for the Tiktok Challenge of the Lipa City government. Fortunately, their entry won first place in the online competition.

As of writing, the post already garnered more than 11,000 reactions and 1,000 shares. (Video courtesy of Annielyn Reyes)
