Did you know that the Queen of All Media once tried to bring Taylor Swift’s concert here in the country?
Apparently, Kris’ years-old post has gone viral amid the dissatisfaction of Filo Swifties with the recent announcement of Swift’s The Eras Tour Asian legs which excluded the Philippines, said to be home to Swift’s biggest fan base in Southeast Asian region.
Many Filipino fans were heartbroken and dismayed with some noting how a lot of her listeners are based in Quezon City, placing it on the list of top cities in the world listening to the pop American singer on Spotify years ago. At the moment, they can only frown upon seeing Tokyo and Singapore’s concerts scheduled for next year.
Amid the clamor of Swifties on social media, an old post of Kris came to light.
Dating back to Taylor’s Reputation era in 2018, an online user thanked Kris for making an effort to get the pop icon to the country.
They then posted a screenshot of Kris’ answer to an Instagram user who requested assistance in retweeting the hashtag “#WeNeedRepTourMNL”.
Kris asked: “Did they announce Asian tour dates? @taylorswiftismyreputation I am ilusyonada- I already asked several friends who produce concerts if I could invest to bring @taylorswift to the (Philippine flag emoji)…
“I was told the cost is SUPER high because of the mounting of the 3 stages & because the ₱ having weakened,” explained Kris.
The celebrity host is known to be a Swiftie as well and that years ago, she shared that she could never miss Taylor’s concert if there ever was one in Asia.
In 2019, Kris interacted with a fellow Swiftie who commented on one of her posts, “Hi Kris, Taylor Swift recently released her single ME! with its Music Video. Have you watched and listened to it already? I want to hear your thoughts since I know you also stan Taylor.”
Kris answered in a total Swiftie manner lamenting every detail in Taylor’s songs, “Hi Jay. I already bought ME on iTunes. Medyo mahaba ito, REPUTATION I could totally relate to because it was TayTay standing her ground, telling her truth, and as a swiftie, i don’t care that she was settling some scores. ME is Taylor in a GOOD PLACE- just the opening alone, the snake releasing all those butterflies? It was her declaration that she has MOVED FORWARD, and with no apologies, she is who she is. i am in love with one line in particular: And you can’t spell AWESOME without ME. Did you notice she has a co-director credit? Taylor Swift is BRILLIANT, period. ❤️ Kris.”
Taylor’s last visit to the country was in 2014 for her “Red” tour, the most recent album she re-recorded before the release of “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version),” which she teased at one of her most recent performances.
Kris is currently in the U.S. undergoing treatment for her autoimmune diseases.
