On social media, Angel Locsin was quick to dispel fake news that said the actress will be running for senator in the 2022 elections.
The Iba ‘Yan host shared a screenshot of a Twitter post with a link to a YouTube video which seemed to announce her intentions to run for a Senate seat.
“Karapat dapat daw ang PEKENG ANGEL na maging senador at itama ang nabubuang nyang pagiisip,” the Twitter user in Angel’s post said.
Angel then asked her followers on the platform to be wary of false propaganda.
“Mag-ingat sa mga maling propaganda. Sino ang gumagawa at bakit may effort gawin ito? Magingat at ‘wag magpaloko,” she said.
The actress, known for her philanthropic acts, has consistently said she has no plans of entering politics.
“Public servant naman po kami bilang artista, e. I think ‘yung buhay naman namin is very public. Lahat naman ‘to ginagawa namin, hindi lang para sa sarili namin, kasi gusto namin magbigay ng entertainment sa mga tao.
“Pero, politics? Hindi talaga. Sobrang hindi. Wala… Wala sa utak ko ‘yun,” she said in a past interview.
Angel was recently hailed as the Philippines’ most admired woman in global public opinion and data company YouGov’s 2020 list of most admired men and women.
