Sarah Geronimo makes history as first-ever Filipina to be awarded in Billboard’s Women in Music

Pop Royalty Sarah Geronimo is set to receive the Global Force awardee, making her the first full-blooded Filipina to be honored by Billboard’s Women in Music.

The Billboard Women in Music Awards, initiated in 2007, previously honored iconic figures including Madonna, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez, and Katy Perry with the “Woman of the Year” title.

The Global Force Award is a newly introduced accolade for the year 2024, and Sarah G. will be the first Filipina artist to receive the recognition.

The announcement was made on Billboard’s social media pages on February 24.

The “Tala” singer will be honored with the prestigious Global Force Award during the event on March 6, 2024, which coincides with the celebration of Women’s Month.

The event will reportedly be hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, and Billboard editorial director Hannah Karp at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California. It will also be broadcast on Billboard’s website on March 7.

Just last year, the Pinay pop icon also gained recognition from “Water” singer Tyla for her powerful performance of the trending TikTok dance trend on the Kapamilya ASAP stage.
