Ex-PBB housemate Jai Agpangan reveals three-day coma during Christmas season

Jai Agpangan, one half of the Agpangan twins from Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4, recently revealed her scary health ordeal that left her in a three-day coma during the Christmas season.

In a five-minute vlog uploaded on her and twin sister Joj’s joint YouTube channel, Jai said it all started after experiencing a swelling in her ears and vomiting for several times while preparing for their noche buena.

“Actually, before Christmas, like last December 24, I experienced swelling sa ears ko. I don’t know why. Baka sa piercings, na-infected pala siya,” shared Jai.

“Tapos bigla akong nag-stop mag-cook and then sumusuka ako like 20 times. Imagine 20 times,” she added.

Jai then asked her younger sister to call the massager since she was having trouble breathing and wasn’t feeling really well.

“I asked my (sibling) Jasper, our youngest, na parang, ‘Jasper, can you call the massager? Ang sama ng pakiramdam ko. Pwede mo ba ako pisil-pisilin kasi parang I cannot breathe well.’

“So parang I was scared,” stated Jai. “Kasi honestly, kami ni Joj, matiisin kami. Like hangga’t kaya namin, hindi naman namin sasabihin. Hindi naman kami magrereklamo eh.”

Jai went on to say that she couldn’t remember losing her consciousness that day, but her lola was able to ask help from their neighbor who is a doctor.

“Tapos hindi ko na-remember nag-pass out na ako. Buti nalang talaga, thank God na lang talaga, nung 24, ‘yung kapitbahay namin, yung Lola namin parang nag-knock sa door ng neighbor namin kasi doctor,” she said.

She continued: “Nag-ask kami help. Hindi ko alam na parang sabi ng Mom ko I was peeing daw sa dress ko lahat. Super basa ako ng pee ko. Tapos kinukuhaan na ako ng blood pressure. I cannot breathe at nagsi-seizure na ako.”

It was only on December 27 when Jai woke up from her three-day coma.

“Actually, grabe ‘yung nangyari sa akin. I got coma for almost three days — 24, 25, 26. Tapos 27 ako nag-wake up daw. Hindi ko alam na NGT (nasogastric tube) yung food ko. Tapos lumbar tap ako kasi akala nila meningitis. Parang na-tetanus ako, infected, sepsis. Ang daming sinabi sa akin ng doctor. Pero buti na lang mabait ‘yung doctor namin at magaling.”

Jai became emotional as she thanked her family for being her support system throughout her frightening experience.

“I thank God for everything, especially my family. Kasi parang naging support system ko sila. Kasi honestly parang very serious matter talaga ‘yung sa amin. Very open matter na naging open sa amin lahat, na parang mag-take care talaga sa health kasi you know life is a blessing,” she said.

She also admitted to having fears over almost losing her life but assured she is now recovering.

“It’s basically very painful,” said Jai as she showed her bruises from the injections and talked about the back pain from the lumbar tap.

“Grabe hindi ko ‘to makakayanan. Almost half dead na ko sabi ng sister ko and I was so scared kasi parang ‘di ko kaya. I know I have a purpose pa. At ‘yung na-experience ko ngayon, medyo masakit pa kasi two weeks pa. Pero recovering na ako, healing na ako,” she said.
