Actor Wendell Ramos reports for ‘first day of duty’ as volunteer firefighter

Kapuso actor Wendell Ramos reported for his “first day of duty” as volunteer firefighter on Thursday less than a week after he completed his firefighting training.

The Prima Donnas star was spotted among the firefighters who responded to the fire that broke out in a factory in Brgy. Lawang Bato, Valenzuela City, according to a report by Super Radyo DZBB.

Wendell himself shared a glimpse into his “baptism of fire,” so to speak, through a series of Instagram stories, where he can be seen riding on top of a fire truck and putting out flames of the burning building along with fellow firefighters from the non-government organization Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas (ABP).

Only last Sunday, the 41-year-old actor surprised his followers with the announcement that he’s now a certified firefighter. He also said that despite the training, he needed to experience more.

“It was really an honor to train and be a certified ABP #AngBumberoNgPilipinas. But to be honest, I need to learn and experience more. It’s truly a humbling experience for me at sa inyo pong lahat na mga bumbero ng Pilipinas…

In a 24 Oras report on Thursday, he explained his decision to become a volunteer firefighter.

Wendell said it’s his way of giving back as well, adding that he never got special treatment during his training.

“To be honest, nung panahon nung (ECQ) ng pandemic, di ako nakalabas.

Aside from firefighting, he plans to train in rescue work.
