Angel Locsin ‘cried nonstop’ over ABS-CBN shutdown, says fiancé

Angel Locsin has been crying nonstop since the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) ordered ABS-CBN to stop its broadcast operations on Tuesday, her fiancé Neil Arce said.

In its May 5 cease and desist order, the NTC told Angel’s home network to stop operating its free-to-air TV and radio stations nationwide “absent a valid congressional franchise as required by law.”

Neil took to Instagram to share how his wife-to-be has been doing after the news broke out.

“Breaks my heart seeing her like this. Angel did not renew her contract so technically she did not lose her job,” wrote Neil.

Last February, Angel admitted to not renewing her contract as she was getting busy planning her wedding with Neil.

Neil continued to share that Angel has been feeling down while thinking of the thousands of ABS-CBN employees whom he said will lose their jobs due to the NTC order.

“She’s been crying nonstop since she saw the news online because she knows 11,000 people lost their jobs. We’ve been under ECQ for two months now trying to save lives. Wala pang 10,000 ang may COVID dito pero ngayon 11,000 na tao ang mawawalan ng trabaho at milyong milyon na Pilipino ang hindi makakatanggap ng quick information and konting kaligayahan sa mga panahon na ito.”

The film producer also sent a strong message to NTC.

“NTC you are evil. How dare you take away 11,000 jobs. We will remember this.”

In an Instagram live, Neil also shared a clip of Angel in tears during ABS-CBN president and CEO Carlo Katigbak’s speech before the network went off air.

He also believes that “during this time of sickness and hunger politics should be set aside. Now is not the right time to take away jobs.”

The Kapamilya actress herself expressed her thoughts on the issue via her social media accounts.
