Former NCT member Taeil avoids police summons after admitting to sexual assault of intoxicated woman – report

Former NCT member Taeil has been indicted without detention on charges of sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman along with two accomplices.

According to media reports, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office’s Women and Children’s Crime Investigation Division 1 of the prosecution formally charged Taeil and his two co-accused under the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes on Feb. 28. in connection to the alleged assault which took place in June 2024.

The Seoul Bangbae Police Station initially issued arrest warrants for the three suspects after the victim filed a report in June. However, the court denied the request, reasoning the suspects’ admission to the crime and determining that detention was unnecessary. As a result, Taeil was summoned for questioning in August, and the case was forwarded to prosecutors in September.

Regarding the crime, the suspects insisted that the incident was “not premeditated”.

While his accomplices appeared before prosecutors, the K-pop idol did not comply with the summons due to experiencing “health issues”. His legal representatives reportedly submitted medical documents and an attorney’s statement to justify his absence.

Taeil debuted as a member of NCT U in 2016 before joining NCT 127. Following the emergence of the allegations, his talent agency, SM Entertainment, terminated his contract in October 2024.
