Taeil to leave NCT due to alleged involvement in sexual offense

SM Entertainment has announced that Taeil, a member of the popular K-pop group NCT, is stepping down from the group following serious accusations related to a sexual offense.

In a statement released earlier today, SM Entertainment confirmed that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case involving an undisclosed sexual misconduct.

In a translation provided by K-entertainment news site Soompi, the company stated that upon reviewing the situation and recognizing its gravity, they have concluded that Taeil’s continued participation in NCT is no longer viable.

SM Entertainment’s statement began, “We have recently learned that Taeil has been accused in a criminal case related to a sexual offense.”

It continued, “As we were assessing the facts related to the matter, we recognized the severity of the situation and determined that Taeil can no longer continue his activities with the team (NCT). After discussing with Taeil, we have decided on his departure from the group.

“We deeply apologize for the concern and distress caused by our artist,” the statement concluded.

The management also noted that Taeil is “cooperating fully” with the ongoing police investigation and assured the public that they will provide updates regarding the issue.
