“Hindi ko lubos maisip na in a blink of an eye, kukunin siya sa’min.”
A father emotionally shared what happened to his partner two months after she gave birth to their twins.
Jan Carlo Ibardaloza said that during Mommy Christina’s pregnancy, she had to undergo a procedure.
“Naging maselan ‘yung pagbubuntis niya, palagi siyang pagod.
She then had to undergo a cervix surgery in December 2023.
Tinali ‘yung cervix niya. Syempre natakot kami. Successful naman [‘yung operation],” he recalled.
After the operation, Mommy Christina was in total bed rest to ensure her and her babies’ safety.
“Nagkakaroon siya ng morning sickness. Nagka pre-eclampsia siya. High blood siya. Namanas ‘yung buong katawan niya. Talagang hands-on kami sa kanya. Sinasabi ko na, “Kaya natin, itaguyod natin. Pinapalakas ko lang loob niya,” Ibardaloza said.
Mommy Christina gave birth to their twins on May 18, 2024. Their Baby Azaiah and Azriel were delivered healthy.
While they were navigating and enjoying their little family, Mommy Christina experienced shortness of breath.
Humina ‘yung puso niya,” Ibardaloza said.
She then started to drink medicines in June 2024.
But Ibardaloza was surprised when Mommy Christina collapsed inside their room.
They immediately brought Mommy Christina to the hospital despite the heavy rains caused by Typhoon Carina. Ibardaloza said that he couldn’t think straight up until they reached the hospital.
“Bumabagyo talaga that time. Talagang grabe, bakit ganito? Wala na [pulse rate]. Sinusubukan siyang i-revive, tapos wala na, hindi na talaga kinaya ng puso niya,” he emotionally said.
Mommy Christina died on July 24, 2024 due to postpartum cardiomyopathy. Ibardaloza said that it was like a bad dream.
Ibardaloza now takes care of their twins with the help of his partner’s family.
Kaya sana ‘wag n’yo rin siyang kalilimutan bilang mom n’yo,” he said when asked about his message to their twins.
