Ogie Alcasid opens up about feeling hurt after daughter decides to live with boyfriend

In a candid moment on It’s Showtime, OPM icon and host Ogie Alcasid shared his experience of dealing with the emotional challenges that arose when his daughter, Leila Alcasid, decided to move out and live with her boyfriend.

During the show’s “Expecially For You” segment on the Kapamilya noontime program, It’s Showtime last Friday, the conversation, triggered by Rosana, the segment’s searcher for the day, touched on how parents feel when their children choose to move out from home and start their own families.

Ogie revealed that he initially harbored some hurt feelings when Leila decided to move in with her boyfriend, musician Mito Fabie, also known as Curtismith.

He continued by expressing how difficult it can be for parents to fully accept their children’s decisions, even when they’ve reached adulthood.

Ogie emphasized that a parent’s role is primarily to guide their children, but ultimately, they cannot control their choices.

“Kasi bilang magulang, hindi mo talaga mapipigilan ‘yung anak ninyo e. Kahit ano’ng gawin ninyo, gagawin at gagawin nila. So kami bilang magulang, nandiyan lang kami, naghihintay lagi kung kailan n’yo gusto bumalik,” the singer reflected on parenthood.

Leila is Ogie’s daughter from his previous marriage with former beauty queen Michelle Van Eimeren. Ogie and his current wife, Regine Velasquez, also have a son named Nate.
