Netizens laud Eat Bulaga hosts after quick action on contestant’s ‘strange’ behavior during segment

A contestant’s behavior during a segment of the TV5 noontime program Eat Bulaga went viral after it left both hosts and viewers bewildered.

The contestant, identified as Angelito Calida, was accompanied by hosts Vic Sotto, Miles Ocampo, and Ryzza Mae Dizon during the show’s “Peraphy Express” segment.

However, in the middle of the game, Calida suddenly began swaying both of his arms and started walking toward the other side of the stage where “Singing Queen” Anne was located.

This alarmed the other hosts who can be heard calling his attention off-camera when he went closer to Anne and attempted to embrace her.

Vic and Miles, along with a staff member, swiftly reacted to the man’s action and proceeded to approach and guide him back to where they were stationed.

“Kuya, kuya dito tayo, kuya,” Miles said.

She added, “Kinakabahan bossing syempre ‘pag ganyan na kalaki ‘yung pera nakakakaba na ‘yan!,” while Vic told him to relax and asked him if he was okay.

The Eat Bulaga mainstay summoned marshalls to assist the seemingly distraught contestant to provide him with medical assistance.

“Mukang iba ‘yung nerbyos niya eh,” Sotto said before handing him over to the medic off the stage.

Netizens began to speculate about Angelito’s condition online, with some agreeing that it was nervousness while others attributed it to a seizure reaction or mental condition.

“Yup too much nervousness yung something wrong sa guy. Baka nde nya kaya ung sobrang stress nung game,” a netizen affirmed.

“May mental disorder. Natrigger ng stress dala ng kaba or excitement ng game & being on nationwide TV. Hindi lang ngayon nangyari yan, maraming episode sya na ganyan in the past for sure,” commented another.

“It looks like he had a focal aware seizure. It’s a seizure that happens while a person is awake and alert. During the episodes of seizure, the person may have movements, feelings, or sensations that are out of their control. They usually last less than 2 minutes. One of my cousins has the same condition as this person. It also happens to them when they are stressed or overwhelmed,” a Facebook user wrote in the comments section of Eat Bulaga’s video.

“Yes hindi lang siguro nervousness yun, baka may sakit din talaga si kuya, kasi based din sa interview sa kanya sa umpisa ng game medyo malabo din siya sumagot. Pero na handle naman ng maayos ng EB hosts yung sitwasyon at may nakaready din silang medical staff,” an X user wrote.

Meanwhile, the show’s hosts and crew also received praise for swiftly and professionally handling the situation.

“Sobrang appreciated ko si Miles dito di ko akalain ganito sya kagaling na host. Wow,” an online user lauded Miles.
